Wow that is beautiful!! I've never seen those before.
Hi Andromeda - they are pretty amazing - dahlia imperialis from South America. The stems shoot up like bamboo in autumn, we get about a week of lovely pale pink ballerinas dancing in the sky, and then they are gone with the first wind/frost. The stems die back down to a small clump until the next year, when they start all over again!
